Got this Judson at a swap meet in Tulsa this year. Will re-build it and get it on the Ghia this winter! Have already honed the housing and it cleaned up nicely. Parts will be ordered soon from George Folchi. Dave J

How are the rotor slot profiles Dave? Need to be parallel for optimum performance and quiet running.

When you get all your parts together post up a topic in the "Vintage Speed" forum as there is a lot of Judson content and practical experience there.

BTW you do realise there is a clearance issue with the Judson Aircleaner and the Ghia decklid?

Hey dj. I can't wait to see how this goes on your ghia. I spoke to you at the tulsa show. I was the kid who was taking a bunch of pictures and had a orange karmann ghia. Good luck.

Vane slots look good. I have a donor deck lid if needed, going to look at air cleaner options during the winter. Have already posted some of this on vintage speed. I have e-mailed George Fulchi about a parts order. Thanks for the comments and interest. I remember the orange Ghia from Tulsa and talking with you and your brother! Dave J

Got it together! Rather straight forward process with a little guidance from the experts! Excited to get it on and running this winter. Dave J

It's really nice to see vintage parts restored and not replaced with new crap.

Good job.

More pics please.

Looks very nice!

What type of performance improvement does this make for a VW engine?

Here is the engine it will go on. 1200 with a big-bore kit giving it 1385. Supposed to give a stock 1200 somewhere around 30-40% increase. Not sure I can expect that on a larger displacement engine, but any increase will be nice to have!

Very Happy Nice engine bay. What is on the firewall above the shroud? Hard to see in the pic.

I'm a little concerned you will have enough room to fit the Judson alongside the alternator Dave. The alternator diameter is often a problem. Confused Not impossible but not ideal: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=348649

LED brake lights do indeed shine through the deck lid vents. John, I also have been pondering the alternator clearance issue. Thanks for the link. Like most things, not impossible, just a little extra work! I am willing to go to a generator if needed. I do not have any crazy stereo equipment or the like to justify the need for lots of juice. Wanted better lighting, hence the switch to 12 volts. Dave

A lot has happened in the past several months. Went to a generator after monkeying around with the alternator clearance issue. Also had to modify the carb linkage to work with my PICT 30. Several trips to the machine shop and finally purchasing the correct drive pulley for the crank solved another issue. And today it runs! Sounds great too! Still have a few small issues to resolve and the hood scoop to paint and install. All in all, very happy with the project and would expect a maiden voyage in a week or so. Have to wait for the snow to melt first!

Project is complete. Did not enjoy cutting that hole in the engine lid! Very satisfied with power increase, pulled a local hill at 60-65mph that usually knocked it down to 50 or so. Dave J
