I got all my lighting issues fixed today. Yay! Everything works. Just waiting for the new dome light, the sun roof crank, glove box lock, engine door dock, left outer window scrapper and a new rear bumper to arrive this week and then she's done. Think we'll name her Betty.

I still need to do an oil change, adjust the valves, etc but that's just routine stuff.

Oh, I put in retractable seat belts. The stock one were terrible.

Now it's time for the shakedown cruises. Small trips around town making sure it starts reliably. Check the oil and valve gap often. Get on the highway and see how fast she'll go then pull off an exit ramp and quick check the engine temp to see how hot it is. Adjust the brakes after just a few trips as they wear very quickly at the beginning until they settle in. Adjust the points as they wear very quickly at the beginning until they settle in. There is lots more wrenching fun.

And throw in a car show. And a dinner cruise with the local VW club.

Once the salt washes off the road we use the bug a lot more than the mini van.

It's a really good looking 69. It is a pain to click on the member and look at his photos to see what he's got.
