Thanks, this car is so awesome, but being matching numbers would make it that much cooler, because it has the original engine as well.

I found the number! The number is correct for the body, so I have a numbers matching body and chassis and the original engine! I'm so happy. I knew the number couldn't be missing since its stamped in, but I thought it was filled in or something. It was all covered in muck and I thought that it was just the paint aging, but its shiny black underneath, and matching numbers. Thanks for all of the help and sorry to waste your time with something that was solved by wiping with a rag. The cold and snow is what kept me from checking earlier, I had to shovel my driveway first.
Thanks again,
Paul

There were almost 25% more 67's made than 1960's, and they are 7 years newer; 7 years less less rotted, less altered, and less likely to have been scrapped or crushed. And no one is reproducing most of the 1960 only parts. Also, 60 was the last year for a lot of stuff; screw type electrical connections, split case trans, 36hp engine, manual choke, screw connection fuse blocks, humpback tank, steel brake fluid res., older style clip elements, and more.

Glad the horn ring is broken? That's an odd sentiment. Good luck finding a replacement.
I worded that wrong... I meant Im glad its the correct 60-61 wheel. When I was looking at the photos of the car, I thought it had a 64-65 wheel due to the lack of ring.

I gotcha...

Do post some pics, and certainly head in to the 60-61 thread.

Congrats on your find!

The chassis number is correct on the registration and the body and pan match.

My bad - I missed the post on you finding the tunnel number - probably because my plane was crashing at LGA.

It's nice peace of mind to know your paper matches the numbers on the chassis! Now you have proof you legally own it!
