Hi there, since I cannot help with money, I will share this with you...
Here in Venezuela is Dr. Jaconto Convit Association, created to supply a very effective vaccine from the cells of the same patient to cure cancer... this doctor was also nominated for the Nobel Prize in Medicine, for developing a vaccine to fight leprosy, by combining a tuberculosis (TB) vaccines with Mycobacterium Leprae some years ago.
he is still alive and his institute brings an alternative to cancer patients for free... I know we are a third world country, but sometimes the answers are in the last placed we used to look for...
here you have a couple resources to check:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacinto_Convit (better if you read it in spanish ´cause there is more information)
http://jacintoconvit.blogspot.com/
hope it helps, she will be in my prayings... _________________ sorry about my bad english!!!

One week left before the big fundraiser. If you can make it out, please do it will be an all day "party" atmosphere, not a somber one. Make a day of it by bringing your lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and plan on staying for both bands, food, raffles, auctions and of course........ the pulling of the RHD Bus http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=985828 winner!!! |

I will pray for Steph.
I looked at the photos and the venue is beautiful and it look like you had a really classy party.

An update on my sister from her caringbridge page.

A friend gave me this scripture today, and it has given me some comfort going through our latest news.
Psalm 119:50 – My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.
Ron had to take me to the emergency room Thursday morning because my pain was so unbearable. I wasn't able to control it with the pain medication I had at home. I was given some pain medicine, fluids, an x-ray, and a ct scan. I ended up being there all day and then being admitted to the hospital without really knowing what was going on. All of the ER doctors kept saying they weren't sure what was wrong. My oncologist came to see me once I was settled in my room. He said that between the x-ray and the ct scan, it showed that the cancer has spread to my intestine, colon, and entire abdominal wall. He said that there are no further treatments available for me, and even if there were, I am not strong enough to have one. Since there are no treatment options available, I won’t be getting anymore chemo, which means the cancer will probably continue to grow.
I was put on hospice as of Saturday afternoon. Basically, their goal is to keep me as comfortable as possible for the remaining time I have. They will handle all of my medical care, medications, etc. If I feel like I need to go to the emergency room, I call hospice. If I feel like I need to call 911, I call hospice. I will no longer have care through Kaiser. All of my care will be taken care of through hospice. I will have a nurse and social worker assigned to me, and those people will organize what needs to be done.
On one hand I feel blessed that God gave me about four years longer than Ron and I thought I would have, but on the other hand I wish I had more time!! You will never know how much your prayers, love, and continued support have meant to me and my family. Our heads are spinning out of control. We would love to continue being in your prayers and hearing from you. Please understand, though, that we are having a difficult time and you may not hear back from us right away.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here for us. We can’t say thank you enough. |
As of 2/27 she is at home under Hospice care. There is nothing left for the doctors to do for her. I'd like to personally thank anyone who helped, donated, or attended the fundraisers we've had to help her. Every bit has helped her and her family more than you will know.
Her birthday is 4/30, but we are having a celebration on 3/15 so that she can easily see people and people can see her. Not a fundraiser, not a somber day, just a chance for people who know her t get a chance to see her.
If you're interested in going here are the details...
It’s almost Stephanie’s Birthday!
Please join the Bettiga Family to celebrate!
Sunday, March 15
Noon-4 pm
Lunch served at 12:30
Johnson’s Winery
8333 Hwy 128, Healdsburg
We are asking you to use this time to visit Stephanie, Ron and the boys, rather than overwhelming them at home.
Please bring birthday cards. No gifts necessary.
Please let us know you can make it.
RSVP to Cindy Beth [email protected] or comment on Facebook –https://www.facebook.com/SteppinUp4Stephanie
Thank you! SUFS CREW |

My deepest condolences, Greg. I went through the same thing with my oldest sister 15 years ago this month. It was probably the most painful thing I've seen when the doctor said there was no more to do. Just give her all the love you can right now, and remember her for her strengths through this illness and hope you can be as strong as she has been. _________________

Greg, I am very sorry to hear of your sisters condition. I had not seen this thread before. Certainly my thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones at this very difficult time. It is wonderful that your sister is a woman of faith.
Would you perhaps share with her a few things that may give her some some comfort during this time of transition?
Jeramiah 29:11
1 Thessalonians 4:16
2 Corinthians 5:8
My name is Jack Staggs and I look forward to meeting her in the future, on the other side.
Please dont take this post as an intrusion in to your family matters. If you feel that it does, I apologize. _________________ Jack Staggs
