Hi,can you put any aircooled seats in the type 3 or just type 3. Are the pan rails universal width? Im thinking of putting bug seats, or other, due to my drivers seat being seized in place too far forward. I will have to cut it out I guess. |

DON"T cut nothing! If you saturate the rails with wd40 and have someone hold the release lever, you can sit in the back seat and kick the seat foward, completely taking it off the rails. You might want to wd40 the mech. under the seat, when it's off, and work them so there not so stiff when you put it back on. <<<This is assuming your rails are not rotted out along with the seat base. As for seats, bug seats will not fit. I mounted some leather 2001 daewoo leganza seats onto my 72 that in no way used the og rails. I have had early lowbacks in my 72 that did use the rails but i think the only ones that will not fit as far as type 3 seats would be the 67 seats and 73 and on. |

Some '72's, and '73's could use T-1 seats. But not anything earlier. T-1's had the tracks on the floor, and T-3's have theirs on the side of the tunnel and on the side of the rocker.
Like the man said, WD40, PB Blaster, and someone to help you. When it gets far enough forward, you will have to release the clip on the inside rail. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey
