Wasn't 1985 the final model year for the Mexican produced 1200L? |

Oh, 1978... the tail end of German production. I wasn't sure if Mexico ever did RHD or not. |

Dont forget reverse lights and heated back window
Do you know what the original plate was?
I've got a magazine with an article on them from the early 90s with a heap of them in a line up, be interesting to see if yours is in it. _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?

Number 2 means Poop in our country. You should paint it brown.
Seriously that is quite the collectors car. That sticker should get serious points and any car show. |

So how did they come up with the number 300 anyway? Why not 100, or 500? |

i dont know why it was 300 but that is how many of the last batch were painted silver metallic and had the blue cloth interior and most were given the plaques ( not all as it was up to the dealer to put them on but some did not )
you can get more information about these cars on here..

Holy RUST-O-RAMA Batman!! That's some SERIOUS rust/rot on those bugs. It makes you wonder if VW was using some different sheet metal steel during 71 that was more prone to rusting? Was it not Honda or Toyota that also had a bad batch of sheet metal and would rust out horribly in the 70's? _________________ Contact me at [email protected]
