GM Cars Trucks and Vans of the 80's -mid 90's have some pretty strong door lock actuators. They have a nice long stroke too.

Ok so that would pull the latch but you would also need something to push out at the same time. It could be electric or just a simple spring. I'll post pics as I go but post your pics too. _________________ Schrodinger's cat walked into a bar and it didn't.

Those ^ GM actuator motors are fully reverseable depending on polarity used. It will either push or pull, or you can use a power window type switch (or switching relays) to make it fully funtional to both push and pull.. depending on switch posistion..
They are not intally "sprung".. so work well just incorporating to the standard door rods or use with a cable.
I simply make a bracket and create a "leg" off the original door rods to be able to keep full manual function as well.
It really depends on the door and latch used on too, not all are the same mod..
Pretty versatile...
As for making the door "pop" open... Create = mini tubing to create a bucket and a strong spring and pin to the lower door pillar to spring the door open when the electric is pressed.
Near the latch is best.
I have use old auto trans valve body springs... Quite strong and small.
Of course.. door popper springs can be bought
Its amazing sometimes what you can find and adapt from hardware store too.

I figured if the popper was close to the latch it would work best. I have access to lots of metal so I was thinking of a spring tab sort of deal. It would not need much to pop it. _________________ Schrodinger's cat walked into a bar and it didn't.

Another option is to go very old school and utilize starter motor solenoids. You have find the right solenoid and modify the bendix fork but it is fun. Door popper springs I like using hood springs. Just somethings I have done. |

I shaved the door handles on my truck, and the seals are usually enough to push them open. |
