One of the things that has bugged me ever since I bought my '47 Beetle years ago was the interior. When it was restored in 1990, nothing resembling the original interior material was available for the seats/door cards so some generic 1950s style material was used in the restoration. The original 1946/47 'Salt and Pepper' material was last available in 1947 when the car was built and I was always on the lookout for something similar, but never found anything that looked right.
A couple of years ago, my friend Rod Sleigh decided to crack on with the restoration of his 1946 Beetle that he bought in about 1974. He still had the original fabric on the seats of his '46 and spent a lot of time contacting firms around the world, asking them if they would be willing to re-manufacture the fabric to original specs. He finally found a company in the UK that agreed to make a limited run of this fabric to the exact original spec. At massive expense, Rod had enough fabric manufactured to re-upholster about eight cars. There is not really a lot of demand for this stuff considering the amount of 1946/47 Beetles under restoration, but a few owners I know are very grateful for Rod's efforts. Thanks Rod!
I've just had my seats and door cards trimmed in this material and I put the interior back together today. I'm rather pleased!
Here it is on the loom being made...

Interior of your '47 looks great! I purchased several meters of cloth from Marcus Raeke (beetlekey) a few years ago but have yet had a chance to get an upholstery shop create my door cards & seat covers for my '47. _________________ 1947 Typ 11a

I remember Marcus offering this material for sale a few years ago and I remember discussing it with him in Bad Camberg 2011. Do you have some close-up images of this fabric? _________________ 1947 Beetle
