|
|
I just found what looks to be a early convertible, it has early lights, windows, hood and deck lid, convertible top, bumpers, and fenders but it has a exterior gas fill up flap such as a 70's beetle would on the passenger side behind the front fender. I don't have a photo, but is this just a later beetle made to look early or is this just some type of weird hack? It is on the wrong side to be connected to a early gas tank. Any help is greatly appreciated! I don't want to put effort into finding a owner if it is just a later beetle!

I'm pretty sure all the characteristics you listed that point toward early can be easily faked/changed, but the one that points to late is difficult to do and almost never done.
Sounds to me like a late car with early clips and fenders. _________________ 1954 3-fold ragtop Beetle project

And since this is in the oval forum, does it have a oval dash? _________________ 1954 3-fold ragtop Beetle project

Take a picture of the windshield area too, it would be the easiest to notice if it's pre 58 at least. Other parts are easier to interchange- |

Will do! Although from what I saw it looked like a earlier front windshield section
