I remember way back when dropping the engine in my brothers bug to find out what was wrong with the clutch. My Dad looks at the TO bearing and it is messed up. So he slams the TO bearing to the ground where it bounces up and flies through the air and lands on the fender of our old Volvo.
Of course I have never screwed anything up in my anger or impatience!! Oh wait, there was that scrape on my car where I scraped a truck bumper because I needed to get to a different gas pump Or ... or ...
Sorry to hear about your hand and hatch damage.

my 2110cc did that a couple years ago,it went from a puff of white smoke on decelleration to a pile of white smoke at the end.
I pulled the P&C's couldn't see anything, then bought a spring compressor to get the dual springs off the heads and this fell out. It was a full on smoke machine when that came loose.

Thanks Doug. I know we all have done stupid stuff over the years and I thought I was over that stuff 20 years ago. Oh well I have 4/6 weeks to think about my hand the garage door and how I'm gonna fix my car. |

Bumsauce, man. Hopefully you get it all figured out and are able to enjoy all the hard work you've put into that beautiful Squareback. We've all done dumb shit. I probably should have changed my thread title from "A Rejuvenation" to "A Retardation" many times over. Your hand will heal and your hatch will be touched up. Don't let it get you down. _________________ 1963 Notchback - Ruby Red

ouch. I feel your pain, both of them. Hand will heal, paint will cover. I watched a buddy punch a door, because he locked his keys in the door. The sad part was the vent window was open. I got a nice parts car out of it. _________________ I think he meant "rare", as in "not well-done" |

Reminds me of the time I spent $2k to have an engine rebuilt when all that was wrong was the spark plug wires (I didn't hook them up correctly). |

I got to meet Paul and see his car up close today. Both were awesome. Such a clean look and plenty of style. So glad you made it down to San Diego. Hope you had a safe ride home _________________ '68 Lotus White T34 automatic sunroof

Finally got the motor back friday. Put it in the car saturday took it around the block. Runs good so I wash it up put it in the garage. There was a show near lake Perris (about 30-40 minutes from me) but was a mini truck show euro car show with an air cooled class. I was headed there sunday morining at 6am. I was cruising on the freeway and it was running great and decided to head to san deigo instead. haha only an extra hour or so. Made it no problem.
Jack once i saw your face i remeber we met years ago at classic but was good to catch up with you and your buddy with the blue square (i feel like an ass cause i cant remember his name now and we hung out most of the show)
I was really shocked to take the award for type 3 class.
Old Leroy made it home with no issues as well. runs great. cant wait to take him out more often now.

I have been admiring your square for some time now. Can't wait to see it, assuming it will be at the classic this summer? Nice cover good work.

Very cool to see the evolution of a car bought on this site almost 10 years ago, same guy bought it / same guy that builds it over that time.
Awesome car. |
