Dion, nice work! The split case in my 59 has a nice whine so will have to come out some day. What a job.

Good work Dion My gearbox jumps out of reverse, I've been slowly amassing the bits to change to a later gearbox/do a 12 volt conversion/get round to fitting a 1600 twinport motor ......but the camper keeps jumping the queue. And how much do I use reverse?.
Got a drawing or dimensions for the quick steer plate? As I'm assuming that's all it is?

There is more work than u think after pulling it out, I'm still running 6v, so had installed a 12-6v bush, also did rear main when I took off the flywheel again, any minor seal that looked suss I changed..

I have a longish driveway so I reverse down it everyday, it gets used quite a bit for me so I needed the swap.
I do have a drawing for it somewhere I'll have to dig it up for u, I'll do that this arvo and post it up.

It's for RHD so flip for LHD an just check the hole distances on the pitman arm too since there was a couple different sizes.

Yeah, no.

The steerig box is rooted so I need to install the old one and make a new quick steer to accomodate the pitman arm.

shortened tie rods a bit, changed steering box to one without play, made another quicksteer for the pitman arm, relocated the brake fluid reservoir so doesnt foul on the tie rods now.. wheel alignment and its done..

full sun, not super glossy but has a good sheen to it..

Great work as usual, definitely my favourite Bug !

I have the same roofrack as you but some bugger has cut the legs down, remind me to measure yours next time you are in Brissie.

On a roll lately...
4 years ago I built this, and ran it daily. Seems the motor stopped.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Then found this happened making the Judson seize, the vanes got wedged inside the slots in the rotor causing it to cease rotating and stopped the motor.

So that got put away.

Rebuilt a pump, found a coil, rebuilt a distributor and had a carb rebuilt by Isaac too. (Thanks mate..)

It can be sleeved and made good again, there are guys that can do it. I need a new rotor, vanes and to sleeve it. That will cost more than I'm willing to spend at the moment.

And there is another idea in the works for it.
