So my car wouldn't start this morning (I had the dead battery clicking noise) however nothing was on. Headlights off, no acsessories on, nothing. So I jump the car to start it (Started fine) I am checking the battery cables and leads for the alternator. Everything seems fine, no bare wires or bad contacts.

After about 1 minute of the car running the connection to the alternator (The one that bolts on, not the plug) is red hot, and the nut / bolt that holds the lead in place is brazed to the back of the alternator Exclamation

I'm guessing I need a new alternator, however this kind of has me concerned that there may be some other issue leading to alternator failure. I don't want to replace this just to have the same problem happen again.

Any one have any thoughts?
