I dive mine to/from school 40 miles away 3x a week.

I've learned a lot about the bug doing so.

1. they are loud even with sound proof matt
2. the wind displacement from almost anything pushes you around
3. they like to wander in the lane
4. a strong gust can cause you to pick the seat out of your pants. Shocked
5. traffic with the stiff clutch sucks!
6. you get a ton of waves, thumbs ups and smiles. Cool
7. if it's old and needs to be replaced you'll know about it sooner than later. Mad

If you Bus is wandering and the wind is pushing it around really easy, you need to check out the front end or shocks or tires or alignment

Well I have had my 71 super since I was a junior in highschool and got a chance to rebuild a good portion of it with my dad. That was eight years ago. There is no heat...obviously and I live in Spokane wa. The Washington with Seattle not d.c. but I drive it every single day and a little piece of me dies when I get a ride from my fiance and I see a vw... Just picked up a 64 with a 1600 dp swap but i will be restoring it since there is no interior or rear windows and is in the perfect paint stage.
But my super is a 1600 dp with dual solex 34's,
header,
Dropped the front four or so inches with 175/55 r15's,
The rear has 205/50 r15's and I am saving up for some atomwerk 3" drop plates.
I love air cooled vw's, as does everyone else I'm sure, and will do anything to be sure that's all I drive. Want to upload pics but thesamba doesn't accept mobile phone pictures.

These veins are air_cooled

I live in Malta , we dont have long distances so I use my beetle everyday , it is from 1958 with original engine and gearbox , and still 6v. I have some problems with the engine it has a miss fire.. So i am thinking about changing the engine to 1300 or 1600 dp. Can I use the split trans ? With a 1300/1600 engine ?

I bought a 66 in December. I love this car. I use it every day to get to the train station and back, 3 1/2 miles each way, and to church on Sundays. Some say I'm crazy to drive it in bad weather. What else is a car for?

Can someone explain to me how I can get a picture in my post instead of a link?

I have Herbie running again after his engine fire.

So, yes, he is my daily.

No, he doesn't drive too far, or look too impressive.

However, I hope I look and operate just as good when I turn 50.
