Thanks for the complement ! Been thinking about doing that, just want to be sure that the efforts of the past and present VW/Porsche drivers and crews are not forgotten .

Folks have been upset about the road getting paved. Trust me, it's still a major challenge to take on the mountain and mother nature to boot. If paving is going to bring more cars like this Porsche 935 K3, I'm not complaining.

Record holder Jeff Zwart rolled in with a very nice transport rig.

His 2007 Porsche GT3 Cup car was looking good as well.

The last time a motor like this was on Pikes Peak, Bruce Canepa and Doug Dreager were racing !

Weather will be nice Sunday and a few more class records should be falling.

Hill Climb this year was different in many ways. Having the fans fenced in with eight foot fencing didn't go over very well at all. Next years race will have lower fences and better areas for viewing .

The drivers enjoyed having the road to themselves as they should. Most individual times went down, having one less worry ,of hitting a fan in the wrong place.

Past years you had to leave some speed on the table just in case you had to react to a fan jumping out out the wrong time.

The news most people will remember 2014's race will be the loss of Bobby Goodwin at the summit.

The Porsche 935 of D-Zug, had engine problems on the last day of practice and didn't race on Sunday.

These were taken in 2012, great to see another surviving VW powered hill climb car !

This picture below came from the Mike Griswold Estate photo collection. Wonder if its the same car? It does have some of those Grizzly features

You noticed he added additional bars for protection after an off course adventure one year at the hill climb !

Nice picture of Gary Lee Kanawyer in his N/D. From 1982 . This car was featured in Hot VW's . Gary won overall in 1981 with this car.

Gary would place two US flags on the top wing mounts, you can barely spot them in this photo

Received a few pics from Kevin Koback. He bought Danny Arants Newman-Dreager and raced in many of the CHCA racing events.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

That's Danny looking on while Kevin is heading out. Race was at Grand Junction Colorado in 1994 . The race is called "Lands End', to some it is was considered a better hill climb then Pikes Peak.

Great shot above, hooking up out of the corner in 1994 at the" Buffalo Peaks" hill climb in Colorado.

Hard to see , but in the background you can catch the bottom of an old gold mine mill. The race was in Victor Colorado 1993 with the CHCA.

That's how you take a corner in a Newman-Dreager !

A couple of shots from 1973.

That is Jay Stewarts first Pikes Peak car. Homemade roundish (?) frame running a Corvair motor. Jay in the t-shirt and his friend Lonnie Offit in the VW jacket.

Jay and Lonnie checking out Bud Whitfields funco. Bud was one of the first aircooled guys to experiment with the front wing.

These are all very unique buggies. I can't say I have really seen any other buggies set up and that look like them anywhere else. Very cool.

Found another source of Hill Climb pictures, unfortunately most pictures are 1968 and older. Did run across this in the lot.

Believe this to be Mark Elliott from 1976. If so, it ran a VW 2180 engine. Mid engine design was unique. Can anyone add more info. I can see the Auto-Haus sticker, so I am assuming VW and not Corvair power

This is Paul from 1974, when Roger Mears drove this car. Rick Mears would go on to win overall in the same car in 1976
