I will be posting a lot of info for running boost on a vw motor and the mods required to do so, I will have links at the bottom of this post to other mods that are required. As a rule you need more fuel pressure then boost pressure or the boost will just push the fuel back to the tank this counts for any car.
Hooking up a boost reference will make the fuel pressure increase as boost builds up. Even on a stock 1600 more fuel pressure is needed.

First off their is a little hole on the fuel pump, that will need to be filled/plugged. Sand the hole so its clean and has a surface an epoxy or jb weld will stick very well to.

You will need to find a spigot. The one I had would had stuck in the fuel pump to far. I machined the end off and made it a lot shorter

You will need to drill a hole for your spigot, use a center punch to mark where you would like to put the spigot. The spigot must go on the bottom of the fuel pump. Not On Top ! Drill a small pilot hole. Then match up the right size drill bit then go a size smaller. Going a size smaller drilling then drilling the size you matched up will give you a tighter fit. This Must FIT TIGHT. Blow any dirt and metal out of fuel pump. I test fitted the hole and it fit perfect, then I put jb weld on the spigot and lightly tapped in with a hammer. It takes about 5 mins to set and a full day to fully dry.

Now hooking up a boost line to the spigot will make your fuel pressure increase to whatever amount of boost you are running

Thanks for giving my post a read, If you have any other questions please feel free to post, I love to learn all the time

So, how many unnaturally aspirated engines have you built?

I used to wonder about that, thinking if you could fit a valve stem seal on the bakelite spacer somehow, and epoxy over the ends of the rocker shaft on the fuel pump?

Electric fuel pumps and bypass regulators are so cheaply and readily available these days I wonder why you bother?

I never knew it was in the build because it's like 90 pages long, and yes I did read it after you told me where it was. In no point of my post did I say I was an expert. Just making a post that's easy to find and useful to everyone.
Sorry for trying to help people

Hey ...No harm...no foul.

Maybe wording the thread a little different would have worked better.

Instead of "How to"......"How I".......

I assumed everyone would know about the pump mods by now but.....I guess it's not that easy to find anymore.
I copied the idea from "Mike Thompson" all those years ago and it worked fine for me for the 2 plus years I ran it that way.
