Reading thru Hot VWs today and saw this... I think it's like $400. They say shifts are 62% shorter!

So? Our buses are 123% longer than the average car. By the time the transmission catches up to the driver the shift is still slow. You need to move the transmission closer to the driver.

Isn't the Bus like 14" longer than a Bug? _________________ "I spud therefore I yam." |

come-on. It is almost Friday and time to enjoy life a little. Isn't that a picture of a split? What is it doing in the bay forum? _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

The shifter fits Splits, Bays, and Bugs. The point was to show the shifter, not the car it's in.

... that shifter looks over-engineered to me.
Gene Berg shifters are much less expensive and have a reputation as the best, buy a Berg! _________________ I Corinthians 4: 1 thru 5

What's wrong with the short shift kits? At least the metal ones. Wouldn't touch the plastic ones. maybe $10. |

This one looks like it's made in Germany so I'm sure it's high quality, too. I don't like the T handle on the Berg.

sorry about that. Hang in there.
Don't tell anyone but I used to power shift my 1971 bus that had duals etc using just the stock shifter. Kids do not try this at home or you WILL be buying a transmission. Want a shorter shift? Grab it lower - it is free. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

And you'll be pleased to see that Berg have a 'Samba Special' advert with bus shifters for around $217 for June. At that price you can afford a ball handle if you don't like the 'T'.

400 for that must be a deal, we all know when driving a Bus, the less time spent shifting, means we get to point B that much faster and if we can get there faster it has the $400value
O why the hell are you driving 55mph in a 70 moh zone >>> in the left lane ?? |

You know what looks awesome, is the side screws, I am assuming those are adjustment screws? My main issue with shifters is getting those fine and accurate adjustments dialed in. Does a Berg have this feature? Or has anyone used these shifters? |

I've got one of those Bug-Tech shifters in my '73 Beetle. Great control and the reverse lockout feature is much easier to use. _________________ Jason McDaniel |

I ran a bugtech in my bug for the last three years and they are AWESOME!
They are super tight with perfect sized ball.
I swapped it out for a locking 60% Berg.
Two quite different feeling shifters but the bugtech has a shorter throw and feels tighter. |
