One of my "VW OTHER" as we are called here, hits the Magazine Racks for the June 2015 issue in Rider Magazine.
If you have never seen or heard of a VW Powered Amazonas Motorcycle (not a trike) and you have access to a June issue of Rider Magazine, Clement Salvadori did a "Retrospective" Article on my Amazonas. Hope you check it out if you are into "VW OTHER".
A little about the bike: Type 1, 1600 cc dual port, VW trans axle converted to chain drive, 4 speed with reverse. weighs in at over 900 lbs. Known as a "Super Esporte" model (Super Sport) HUH? I know makes no sense. Best knowledge that we know to date. The bike below is the only known all Brazilian Amazonas in the USA. We know of one other rolling frame that came in to the us was built and assembled here by Motorvation basically as a kit bike with a Motor and Trans they supplied. With just over a handful of kits sold as special construction bikes from a Texas distributor during that period.
I have NO affiliation with Clement Salvadori other than he wanted to do an article on this VW Powered Motorcycle. BUT! I have to admit, I love his writing style!
Clement is a prolific writer who in the magazine does a monthly article called Road Tales and his Retrospective Articles are always are on the last two pages that you read from rear to front. This article it is pages 122 to 121.
Whether you are into VW's (VW people like to travel), Motorcycles or Travel and want to read a good book? He has a book just out called "No Thru Road, confessions of a traveling man".
