I'm pretty sure these are the same part no matter where you get them from. |

WW also brags about their chrome. And it's cheaper.
Have fun putting that rubber seal on there ....

Thanks. I kind of figured that they were the same. Since I'm in Canada, the CIP ones end up being close to $200 cheaper after exchange, shipping, and duty. _________________ 71 Type 1302 Custom

I should have said border handling fees. WW ships via UPS who will charge $50 or $60 just for handling the package over the border plus another $90USD for shipping. _________________ 71 Type 1302 Custom

You're in Toronto, maybe worth a drive to Niagara Falls NY. I'm in Ottawa and I place my WW orders to the UPS store in Ogdensburg NY.
$5 handling charge at the UPS store, but shipping is a lot cheaper. Most of the time I get waved through on the way back, but even when they decide to charge me it's just HST as the parts are made in the 'Good Ole' US of A.
A little longer drive for you than me, but may be worth it on larger orders. (and don't forget to fill up while you're there ). _________________ 1971 Super Beetle (past)

I do the same. I have a place in Niagara Falls, NY (about 2 hours away) that I use. It's great if I'm not in a rush for something. I try to plan around it and make a weekend out of it with the family. It's not worth it if I just have a couple of items. _________________ 71 Type 1302 Custom

I have used a WW one and the quality was nice, the latch was really good quality. |
I just installed a set of WW vent windows because of major pitting on the originals. I am happy to report that it's a nice quality part with excellent chrome. I was informed that many of WW parts are imported from China but built to WW quality standards. I would not be surprised to hear that the CIP and WW vent windows come from the same vendor. It's like the replacement front clip that you see advertised on most of the online air cooled VW part sites. They all must come from one vendor due to the economics. The major cost of stamping dies, supply and demand, etc. _________________ 1957 VW Oval Resto Mod |
