Does anyone have dimensions or close up pics of the 6 volt battery strap hold down bracket for the pan on 65-66 cars with the heater cable tube? My 66 had a big hole there so I have nothing to start with. I did find this pic in the gallery but it is for a 57 and doesn't really show the height and location on the floor pan.

Any help is appreciated.

That is the 12 volt version which basically holds the battery in the front and uses a bracket on the back side to clamp it down. There is nowhere for that strap to connect to on the 12 volt mount.
What I need is the 6 volt version that hooks the strap that goes over the battery and battery top cover.

I was expecting it to look like this with a loop for the strap to hook around.

I just ordered, received and tried to install/use WWs battery strap, I give it a low rating, one would be better off fabricating one for oneself

Good information (for my wallet). I was eyeballing that 2-piece strap... Why the low rating/fabrication recommendation?

The strap was firstly too long for the battery and I had to use a spacer, then the loop that attaches at the front of the pan was not formed in a way that it would successfully grab the pan bracket, I bent the loop a bit more to make it work, but the loop eventually failed because of cheap metal, on inspecting after failure the two spot welds were also "stressed" just crappy cheap metal. i will be making one out of 4130 strap and rod, in the meantime, battery held down with nylon cinch strap

Thanks for the report! I keep hunting for an original 2-piece strap.

hopefully you contacted them so that you can get a refund and they can correct the fabrication. I regret not doing so when I purchased hardware from them (and others) that failed to live up to expectations. I purchased a set of used straps from a seller here on TheSamba for my '66 and was pleased with the quality of original parts. Often used parts may not be pretty but they always fit and most times a little cleanup and some paint and they look like new.

I purchased my 6 volt battery cover at a swap meet and found a great battery strap in the classifieds last year. I may order this one to compare and let WW know if I see any differences, hell it is only $14 and lord knows I have wasted a lot more than that on crappy replacement metal and non-German parts that I have thrown in the trash. I will definitely order the bracket though. I tried to make one and it just wasn't perfect enough for me.
