I too would be interested in ordering a pair of late model ball joint blank front drums. If you come up with anything on a multiple order please post info.
I'm also going to contact cip1 and see what they say about availability and what it would take to order. Have been looking for a pair of these for quite a while.

Thanks.

Is that all Torque Thrusts? or Torque Thrust types?

Hey Q-dog, heard about the storms in Louisianna, I hope you are safe.

Siggymanx, sorry for hi-jacking here. I didn't notice the early/late type brakes difference.

Just talked to Mike @ Cip1 and he will get back to me this afternoon. He's got to check if BBT has got 8 pieces in stock. When he calls back I will also ask him to check BBT for king link pin as well, maybe that could be a solution to Siggymanx's problem.

This is Cip1's reply mail:

I have received a reply from BBT. Your price per drum is $69.99 and $20 shipping per pair to the Montreal area.

We are able to add them to our next stocking order which is currently being packaged at BBT in Belgium. This order will ship in approximately 1-2 weeks. If you want to secure these drums for this shipment we will need to take payment within the next day or two.

Approximate delivery ETA is 4-6 weeks. Our order ships in a large shipment container on the ocean which takes up to 4 weeks. If you want expedite the shipment and get it faster I can look into DHL airmail shipment. That may be very expensive due to size and weight.

Let me know if you would like to proceed.

Thanks

Mike

Sounds like good timing. I will buy a set, how should I order? Direct from CiP1? Reference a certain perso or order number? I don't want to miss out. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for info. Calling for a pair tomorrow. Did you use the BBT # 1280-999 when ordering or talking to customer service?

Thanks Again for info.

You guys can probably call and ask to talk to Mike. i called the technical assistance number, not the toll free one. And I think the BBT parts number isn't necessary, he'll know what part you're talking about.

Glad to have been of any help, keep on buggin' and long live the samba:-)

Singerdude thanks again for the info and the leg work.

Dave, I too have run disc up front, drums rear and did not have the lock up problem, but I do tend to build heavy buggy's with full cages in them.

The problem with the L&P front spindle is, switching to disc will push the mounting surface outward about 1 1/8 inch over stock, and are normally more expensive. An adapter pushes outward about 7/8 inch.

David ran the TTO's on his L&P front end with the steel adapters, not the cast aluminum. He flat towed to MOTB and put several thousand miles on the buggy without problem.

Thanks for the info Joe…I was actually going discs because I thought it would be cheaper and less on an increase in track over adapters.

Everything brake wise needs to be fully replaced.

I called about ordering the blank drums and Mike at CIP says after getting requests for a few pairs, they have decided to stock these. Will still be 4-6 weeks for them to arrive with their regular stocking order.

Looks great! Tell me about those auxiliary lights on the bumper. Any info on brand, source, etc.? Do they provide a lot of light? My stock buggy lights are marginal from a lighting perspective, and I like the classic look of the bumper mounted pair on your buggy.

I converted original "stock" type sealed beams for H4 units and the was a 100% improvement in lighting....
