Ok, so I have a 63 356 S and I am starting to recondition a few things on it. The question I have for you guys is which cars came with the silver wheels vs the chrome wheels. My car has original wheels on it but they are chrome and its peeling. So I have to refinish them one way or another and I need some direction from the guys with 356 experience. I have a bunch of VW's but this is my first and only Porsche.

Next thing is what is the color code for the silver? If I do them in that color I want to keep it as close to the original color as possible, but... I would like to powdercoat vs. paint.

Long story short...

Which cars got silver wheels and which ones got chrome?

Can anyone point me to the exact color silver and its paint code?

As far as I know all cars would have painted wheels unless owner specified the chrome optioned ones.

Check here for colors.

Stoddard also sells wheel paint. www.stoddard.com

Mic is right. Original chrome wheels had to be factory ordered. My 356C chrome wheels are called out on the COA. If you have good reason to believe your wheels came from the factory chromed, I would get them rechromed.

Can I get the COA from Porsche in the same way I can get a birth certificate for my VW's?

Also does the S mean super 90? And how do I tell the difference in the motors?

Order the COA from PCNA. I don't know what the current going rate is but it was north of $100 when I ordered mine a few years back. And on the B T-6 models, the S actually designates the 75 HP "Super" engine. The Super 90 will have a "90" badge on it.
