Tired of grinding, can't stand chemical strippers, need an economical blast booth with some sort of media recovery trap? Or recovery system, or cheap sand that won't clog the tip. I tried the bags of kiln dried sand available at the Home Depot / Lowes type stores, and although it works with my siphon system(cheap home made one) my tank system gets clogged shortly with the biggest tip, and uses a HUGE amount of air that way. Glass bead works fine in the tank but at $50 a bag doesn't fit my ever so small budget, the $3 a bag kiln dried stuff fits the budget. Any tips? Ideas? I'm thinking at the moment in the back of my pick up with a tarp laid down in the bed and the sides up over the lumber rack, and then one over the top for containment. When finished just pour the sand out of the bed from pulling up the tarp. I've made a mess doing this ump-teen times, and tried different ways looking for help. Thanks ! |

I just use #30 Home Depot sand, but strain it through a window screen when loading/re-loading it. Siphon does work easier than Pressure, so use your Siphon. A 72" X 12" kids swimming pool might be better than the bed of your pickup. A big blue tarp under the swimming pool will save even more. Don't worry about a tarp over your head or you'll suffocate! _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

As far as sand goes - go to your local building supply and get it. I just picked up a 50 lb bag from may cabinet of sand blast sand for about $5. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

I have been using a portable garage. Going to use it as a paint booth also.

Alwagd screen the sand if you don't want to fight clogs! Find a building supply, and ask for pointing sand, if you want to try a finer media. You'll have to dry it in the sun, but it works well. I use it when I need disposable media |
