PostPosted: Thu Apr 23, 2015 7:57 pm    Post subject: Cal look tire size? Reply with quote

I just bought a decent '62. I'd like to do a Cal-look style build. I'd like to lower the rear one spline though and am looking for input on rear tire sizes. For the front I'm planning on 145/15 tires with dropped spindles. From what I've seen here and other places, the 205/65 or 70 is a popular size for the rear of a true Cal-look car. I'm wondering though if I should go with a 195 on the rear since I want to drop it one spline.

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks, Jim

215/65-15 M & H cheater slicks in the rear with 145s up front with 2.5" drop spindles and don't lower the rear (you did say cal look).

I have 195/55-15 front with a 3" drop and 205/60-15 rear with a 1" drop.

That’s not Cal look. I’d stick with the 195’s or 205’s any bigger and you should probably mess with gearing.
