how do I identify what distributor my Thing has? Still trying to sort out the fuel/ignition set up. Running better now that I increased the fuel pressure but some stuff going on when the engine is hot.

No but if you search by part number you may find the distributor you have and its application. Things stuff is typically either the same year Beetle stuff or a few years earlier.

This Bosch 034 distributor may be not original for the AM thing motor but it works very well on my 181 with AL 1600 motor Cool
