That's inspiring Pitbug!

On a not so large a scale; I've been busy fixing the little things that have been crying out for attention.

Tail lights for one. My Puck's light lenses are cracked, brittle and badly hazed; tried to locate replacement Hella lenses but have learned they've been discontinued for awhile now. So the search for something similar with the look and spirit of the originals was on.

Found these Australian caravan tail lights that fit the bill...

Their NARVA 86030TP

Most euro caravan tail lights are LED and have a decidedly different modern feel. I wanted old school bulbs and it needed to have a base that would work with the original spacer stands that hold the lights out and away from the body. The new lights mounting holes matched perfectly, so no need to alter the body to accommodate them! The lenses have a bottom plate that can be swapped for a clear one should you need to cast light down onto your license plate. Very Happy

Love the addition of the Euro amber turn signal as compared to the all red American issued lights.

The new door latch for my Eriba arrived Friday from Jandi Caravan parts in England - I was out of town for the weekend so I'll install it tomorrow.

going to import a eriba familia from the UK wondering what the process is for changing out the wiring from 240v to 110v is it as simple (i know its not) as using a transformer when pluggin in at a campsite? Do i need to remove all th eold wiring and retor with 110v? thanks in advance for the replies

JackW, nice find on the latch. I'm having some issues with mine and when you posted I was hopeful that your new parts were identical to those on my 71 Puck, but sadly they are not. My latch mechanism is about 4" square with the attachment points in each corner.

I was just looking at the thread below where the guy is restoring a Westphalia hearse...he had pics of the latch, which looks identical to yours.

Edit: I had my latch fixed today by a local locksmith. He found that the locking pin in the handle was sheared and poorly repaired in the past. They fixed it. Wasn't cheap but its done.

Jandi supplies Eriba owners all across England with parts - they may have the older style latch as well. There are a lot of Eribas in England and the Netherlands as they are extremely popular over there.

My wife doesn't think I need two trailers (I'm not real sure I agree with her but realistically she's right) so I have listed my Puck for sale in the classified section of the Samba.

Nice. Does that color match your bus?

Jack W, I think going with the bigger trailer is a good choice. I end up using my Heilite anytime I go camping with my son because the Puck is just too small.

Found a guy with a Puck and measured his...1" hardwood dowel about 25 1/4" or 65cm long.

I have found and purchased a 1967 Eriba Puck which sat out in a field an extended period of time. It suffered damage to the floor and aminals got inside and that was no good. The interior has suffered too. It's mostly intacted (frig is gone) but it needs help. I really like these trailers... So I have 3 options.

1. Sell it and be done with it.
2. Send it to someone to professionally restore it
3. Gut it and put different interior into it since restoring it to something close to what is was is beyond my abilities.

I would really like to have this back to its original shape or something close to it. Does anyone know of anyone who restores these trailers in the NE USA? In truth, I need help... I know even before I start I'm in over my head trying to restore it I am speaking up ahead of time. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

John,

You took a step in the right direction just by finding this forum. Lots of resources and information here.

I live on the other side of the continent so I cant help you with any tips on a shop. I would think that having someone do the work you require would likely be cost prohibitive if they were to do it "door to door". Perhaps finding someone, even a carpenter, to replace the floor, then perhaps you could work on the interior after that big job was complete.

I am trying to put new bearings onto the axle of my 1967 Eriba Puck. I am having trouble finding the inner seal. Does anyone know where I can locate such an item? Here are a few photos of the part I need.

Here is my curtain hook replacement made by hand from stainless wire rod. I plan to replace this with one with better bends at the mount that are more like the long wire hooks. I also made a shorter version of the long wire curtain retainer for the curtain by the cook top.

I decided to replace the fiberglass gas bottle cover on the front of my Eriba trailer with something more useful - a metal box that could hold the 20 lb propane bottle and the chocks and leveling pads that I use to set up the trailer. I wanted to free up some storage space in the trailer and keep the stuff that is likely to get dirty outside.

I made a cardboard template and took it down to a sheet metal shop just south of the Atlanta airport where they built me a 16 gauge box for only $250. I'm real pleased with how its turning out. I had to make a mount and figure out a few details like the gas strut but its got plenty of room for everything I wanted to store up there.
