Yes. Same cylinder with a smaller hole.
BUT, they don't make 1500 cylinders any more.

83mm pistions are hard to find for a 69mm crank there are a lot of 83mm big bore kits for a 40hp motor out there .make sure you have a set of 83mm pistions for a 69mm crank.. because the 40hp 83s wont work with a 69mm crank spencerfvee

The 83mm big bore 40HP kit is not compatible. They have more differences than just the pistons having different height and pin diameter, the cylinder dimensions are totally different as well. I have a set of both and here's some side-by-side photos:
