Where on the case is the letter code mentioned in an earlier thread, EG, EH, EK, EM? Want to figure out what I've got here. Thanks! |

Found only one marking, on the top of the case 9 digits followed only by the letter E, then the VW logo and the numeral 5. I wonder if there were soft metal i.d. tags that had E and the following letter. Wiped grime off of surfaces that were flat enough to be stamped, haven't found anything yet. No marking on the diff housing that I could find either. |

If memory serves me well I think it was on the upper area of the trans...although there's also a number engraved in the bottom of the diff housing but I don't think the code was there |
