Hello. I urgently need a scheme or photograph attachingan "awning" to vw t3 before 1984.In Europe we have this kind of attachment but only a new type after 1985-1992.I would like to do them from scratch so I am looking for the plans or clear photos.

I was under the impression that all vans are the same as far as the rain gutter goes, which is where the awning brackets attach... Think Question

Here are GoWesty's mounting instructions, not sure if the video will help:

no they're not all the same..
the early vans have a more pronounced curve up on the rain drip edge.
on mom's 86 and my Bro's 85 they have a smaller turned up lip and a plastic bit of OE edge trim.
I'll have to inspect my friends 84.. and Dad's 82 diesel in the yard.

Here's the description of the awning bracket;
2 piece mounting bracket set for mounting Fiamma F35 Pro awnings on 1968 - 1991 VW Bus & Vanagon.

I know the world according Dan that the Vanagon drip moulding are not all the same--
However, after taking a look at the ETKA parts layout for 1980, & 1991 the roof panels as well as the drip moldings have not ever changed since their inception --
Samo-Samo.
Excluding the plastic decorative cover on the late 86 to 91--that's the only difference.
I looked at my Moms, Dads, brother's , sister's, uncles, & aunts, cousins Vanagons too-from 1980 to 1991.
Then took a look at my own--there is not one iota of a difference.
Not to forget, the same Fiamma awning bracket fits type 2's as well as Vanagons--as advertised.

Dan must have some another vehicle in mind--
Perhaps his Peugeot.

My 1982 Diesel Vanagon with the early drip edge. These are similar to the Baywindows. My 1980 Westy is the same

There is in fact a difference in some of the drip rails. My 82 diesel is different than my buddy's 86. The Go Westy awning brackets fit on his but not on mine. Go Westy has since modified their brackets to work on the early rails although I haven't reordered them to see for myself. Perhaps you could call them to see if they'll work for you.

You could have just left it at that. Rolling Eyes

To compare, my '90 (missing its right rear molding), which is what is depicted in Adrian's illustrations:

I see now that some awning brackets could be problematic on the early vans.
