Hi all,

It's my first forum post on here, Just wondering what the best tire size to use on my 69 beetle would be.

It will have stock width beam, on dropped spindles, no adjusters and disc brakes. What have you guys used?

If your running 4.5 inch sprinstars, post your pictures up of your tire / suspension combo.

Thanks for your help,

Martin

Continental 145/65/15 is a good choice for a 4.5" rim.

The wheel on the left is the 145/65 on a 4.5" Porsche steelie.

On my 68 Beetle, stock beam, dropped spindles & disc brakes I run 145R15 Nankang tires. I've run this tire on Sprintstars, stock wheels and aluminum wheels. This got rid of the tire rubbing on the fenders (when turning corners), that I had with the previous 165R15's.

I run 185/60/15s on my 4.5 wheels. I hate 135s/145s they are too skinny for any kind of spiritted driving and lock up under hard braking.

Yeah, I bought the 145R15 tires many years ago, as that was the typical Cal Look size for front tires...but there are certainly better choices available now.
