I've been trying to find some info on the lady bug floor mats with no luck.

Were they an original VW accessory or a dealer option or something aftermarket? What years were they used and what styles were out there, etc.

Any information would be appreciated!

I remember them as a kid for sale at Statewide Auto Supply (70s). I've personally never seen them in VW dealer accessory catalogs.

Have you tried google? First search shows they were an EMPI accessory, not VW or Autobahn.

Weird how they made them symmetric so they didn't beed to make two molds for left and right. But that means they miss part of the floor!

I did Google it of course, but I never could find any actual historical information on them. Sure I found a hundred different places trying to sell them but no actual sites just on the history or application.

Thanks for the help.

Don't have any info.. but there were at most 2 different styles that I'm aware of. One with big eyes from the 1960's(?), which range in several colors.

And of course the later version with a bowtie (as Phil posted) we're all familiar with..

I posted these on another thread, but this thread shows some Lady Bug styles, my set is different. I got these in the early '80s, I also have the front with the same cut pattern shown above:
