That didn't work out- the driver's foot was way too restricted. Did you see the upgraded version?

Walter- on that early car space in the front beam area where the condenser usually goes on later cars was way too limited so we installed a universal thin parallel flow condenser with a thin line cooling fan attached in the area above the transmission which worked out perfectly.

Hi Tram, thanks, my dilemma is my car is a T34 which does not have enough room between the spare wheel well and the front beam, (and i will not be cutting the body to accommodate) so then it should go above the transmission as you mentioned. My concern was is it going to get enough cold air even with a cooling fan? According to what you are saying, it should be Ok. I also wanted to install an oil cooler. Is there enough room for both? If both were installed, will they cool properly?

Frigiking made a unit for the Volvo p1800 that was also used for the Type 34 as I recall. I have one- I will try to photo it later.

I have also seen a "Kuhlmeister" under dash unit as was used in Mercedes W110/ 111/ 112 cars in a Type 34.

Tram, I never thought about a kuhlmeister. Looking photos of the unit, it seems it could be a nice fit with some mods.

They made a version with dual small "barrel" fans right on the rear hanging down off the bottom of the unit. That's the one I saw in a 34 years ago. If you have a later 34 with the 'woodgrain' dash, you could make the face of the Kuhlmeister match the woodgrain and vinyl dye the padded surround to match your dash pads for a factory installed look.

Yes, the A/C on the Notchback pictured above is actually very cold with the condenser and attached fan there. As to an oil cooler, the answer is that I don't have enough experience with those to really know.

Thanks Tram, have you or has anyone ever seen a Kuhlmeister or Frigiking installed in a T34?
