|
|
Hi all. I am replacing the shocks on my 74 Westy. I have the rear ones done. They were a bit short, but they fit. The front two supposedly don't need any extra hardware to fit, but it looks like they might on mine.
The unthreaded length of the shock stud is longer that the sleeve in the bushing of the KYB GR-2 shock. Since no spacers were provided with the shock, I am considering stacking a few washers on the outside of the stud so the bushing will reach the threaded area of the stud. Anyone see a problem with using regular washers for this? Also, would placing the spacers on the outside or inside on the stud make an important difference in the shock's performance?

I was thinking the outside would be best also. Thanks.
Turns out it won't be necessary as they DID come with spacers. After rooting around in the recycling bin of course the little bag of spacers was stuck in the shock box. I am an ass.
I imagine one spacer on each side of the bushing is how it's intended. |

One on the inside and one on the outside should be fine, just make sure the shock has sufficient clearance so it doesn't rub against anything. |
