I guess that you could say that the stock motor is a porsche motor because it was co-designed by Porsche and VW for the Type 4, Type 2 and 914 respectively. But you are probably thinking of a 6 cyl. boxer which would be very cool and you should do it! _________________ VeeVeeOne is my baby, She is a 1983.5 Vanagon GL (Two-Tone Blue Baby, Yeah!). |

I have always heard that a 6 would fit right in a 412 engine bay. _________________ 65 Bus, 72 Bus, 63 bus, 98 Golf, 92 Cabrio, 71 Fasty

Hey Lars S that is freaking awesome! I have been thinking that someday it would be cool to do a wide body. I like the yellow powder coating too.
In Europe the 914 was labeled a VW for a couple years I think. and the ones with a 6 cyl., the 914-6, was labeled a Porsche. With that said I don't think it would be hard to put a 6 cyl. in a 412 because both engines fit the 914 engine bay. _________________ VeeVeeOne is my baby, She is a 1983.5 Vanagon GL (Two-Tone Blue Baby, Yeah!). |

Apparently VW thought of it, then nixed the idea due to the fuel crisis, the EA128 flat six engined on a Type 4 platform with bigger bodywork:
God, it's ugly! |

Yes, thanks God VW went for the 411 instead of the EA128...

That thing is huge! You know our 412's aren't exactly looked at as the "super model" of the VW world. I would drive the EA128. I like the bumper and taillight styling, not too fond of the squared-off back though. Ahh, fudge it, the more I look at it the more I like it. Right keithwwalker, the EA128 was a lot larger car, about 4,70m long the engine was 2,0l and 90hp, to me it has both Russian and American influences...

Front end is goofier than the 412. Where can I get a steering wheel like that? _________________ VeeVeeOne is my baby, She is a 1983.5 Vanagon GL (Two-Tone Blue Baby, Yeah!). |

Wow, that takes the 412/Porsche concept to the next level! I know their other 412 wagon is Porsche 6 powered, but is their 411 the one I've seen pictures of with the Porsche 6 also? My computer with all my pictures is down at the moment. _________________ '74 412 wagon

There are front end parallels between the Brazilian SP2 and the 412.
A little bit more power, disc brakes and some frenchin' treatment to the bodywork and the 412 is no longer the orphan, imo. |

I thought this was the yellow-orange wagon you can see in one of the garage shots:
http://web.telia.com/~u31614245/Raknes/eReknes.htm
Maybe it is a friend's or relative's car or he bought it from the original owner? Maybe he built it for him? I'm fairly sure it is the same car, though.
I have or have seen pics somewhere of a relatively stock-looking black 411 4 door that is Porsche 6 powered also, what do you want to bet... _________________ '74 412 wagon

Hi!
There are just a few 911-412s over here, mainly in the same area, so I think it's done by just a few guys with the same ideas and skills. This car has been reworked quite extensively with 915 transmission, porsche brakes and so on to keep up with the 911 force... Quite an Audi S4 killer!
I wonder if a small and "kind" 2.0 Porsche 6 would go more or less straight in without the need for bigger brakes? Anyway it will need to have the rear floor raised a bit to make room for the fan and carbs. |
