Another piece of aftermarket crap.

Tried to install my new seal. The rubber is about two feet too short. Can't stretch it into place.

Who in US sells a good seal that is the right size?

Two feet too short sounds like you might have an engine lid seal instead of a front trunk seal.
Perhaps there was some confusion surrounding the fact that the "trunk" seal is actually for the front compartment?

That's a long shot, I know ... but two feet too short is pretty ridiculous.
I would be surprised if even cheap Chinese crap was that far off. Smile

Another reason to always buy German. Cool

It is the correct cross section for KG front-lid seal. Engine-bay-lid seal has completely-different cross section.

It is a straight length, not joined as a loop. I suspect it was cut short from a longer piece by the manufacturer.

This is why you should always use the Ghia specialist suppliers. Someone who is shipping out Beetle and Bus parts all day would probably never notice it was too short. Confused

BTW in my experience they are not sold as continuous looped seals.

The Vewib German one I used was a continuous loop, fitted perfectly and had the cutouts for the drain tubes.
Highly recommended!

How does yours seat? Mine, (sold as an over-length strip to be trimmed) sits slightly too high.

Supplier?

Seats perfectly, but was a bugger to install! Some tips in my thread p13

Got mine from Machine7. Pricey but good. About 2/3 the way down the page.

Got mine from KGPR. Fit perfect, did not even have to use adhesive. It's been on for more than a year now.

I used the WCM piece. It is straight length, glue ends at top near windshield. I needed to cut a little off on install. I stretched ever so slightly all the way around so it was nice and snug fit.
