So I am slowly searching for the correct parts for the stock motor.I have attached pictures below of the manifold that came on the car. Can anyone tell me if this is the correct manifold for the motor? It is the one that came on it but what is throwing me off is the little tube under the carb mount.I searched the part number and I found one thread that mentioned the part number and another that said it was for a DP motor. It is obviously not a DP manifold. I have really no knowledge of what is correct when it comes to 40H motors, until now I have never built a stock motor.
Here is a link to the thread I did find, but as you can see it was not very helpful.

I think you want the D manifold, not the M |

Well moving right along. I got a set of rebuilt rods and installed them on the crank. This build is still fighting me, I moved on to cleaning the pistons up to see what I had. Come to find out that I have 3 stock Mahle pistons and one oddball piston of unknown origin. I bought a new ring kit, but I am going to have to search out a factory piston and cylinder. The three Mahle pistons are in awesome condition so I am going to try and find a single replacement. We shall see how that goes. No word from David's Machine shop on the condition of the heads yet. I contacted Keifernet about a rebuild on the stock carb, I have not heard back from him yet so I went ahead and disassembled the carb and now have it soaking in Chem-Dip.

FWIW, I'd suggest pulling the oil galley plugs.
Walnut shells are the right media for sure,
But,
It can be _real_ hard to get everything from way down deep in there if you blast a case.
Just $.02 from some guy on the Internet you don't know from Adam... _________________ Bus Motor Build

Yep I had planned to clean the oil galleys, just have not got that far yet, and I need to pick up a set of screw in plugs and the right tap if I do not already have them in my set.
Yep I got the email back from Keifernet, I tried searching for Volksbitz but no user is found. I let the carb soak in Chem-dip all night, it is definitely clean but it lacks that new look that the carb builders manage to get.
edit: found him spelled with two z's Volkzbitz _________________ Ethan Dunlap

Car is coming along great. Where did you get those red socket trays in your tool box? _________________ -Jared

That is actually a set that came from craftsman. It had its own case but I pulled the drawers out and they fit perfectly in my tool box so I threw the case away. I like it because its easy to tell if I have tools missing and if I need several sockets I just pull the individual draw out and set it next to me while I am working, here is the set I bought.

That's cool, I've been looking for some sort of organizer system for my drawers. The foam ones are way too expensive given they are only foam. _________________ -Jared

A car I purchased seems to have Bondo under the entire paint job that was done about 12 years ago. I been using abrasive wheels to remove the paint and Bondo, taking it down to bare metal.
Have you found that the sheet metal is wavy, or has low spots ? _________________ ----------------------

Yes wavy, damaged, warped. Basically the blue you see in the pics are low spots. _________________ https://www.instagram.com/w.a.r._wills.auto.restoration/
