|
|
Hello All,
Over the last week I installed new rear coil over shocks. The old shocks looked as the lower "ears" were removed?
When I placed the new shocks and the bottom bolt is short!
Should I hack saw off the ears? Get longer bolts (bolt is 12x80)
Let me know,
Tony |

Looks like - You have to remove the steel spacer sleeve from the old bolt --- the new shocks already have one in the rubber bushings. It might take PB Blaster, torch and a chisel. _________________ CMC '57 Porsche Speedster Replica and Dolphin boat tailed full pan VW MOD-T Street Buggy |

Yeah... Kinda look like there is still a old sleeve still on stud ...
Need picture of stud with out shock on it, also a picture of lower eye of shock (not on stud)...

Hello All,
When I got the new coil over Empi shocks, the steel sleeve was on it.
I noticed on the old rear shock the it might have been hacked off?
Is this common?
Thanks. |

Probably not hacked off...more likely still attached to the stud on the lower suspension bolt.
As previously said....very common. |

Hello All,
Had some time to remove the shock and saw off the extra part.
As you can see it was taking up a lot of space. If you compare original shock that I had on there.
Buggy sits a little high and will adjust.[/img] |

Hello jrailer,
thanks for the info, i thought that the EMPI package said "swing arm".
I will confirm.
Buggy feels better. Now have to check the fuel line and busted axle boot.
