|
|
Hi again,
Now I am trying to remove the ECU wiring harness from the car. I have unplugged all connectors including the one on ECU. I wonder whether it is possible to remove the wiring harness without damaging the rubber grommet on the wall b/w ECU and engine bay.
Thanks,
Michael |

I did this on my 412 coupe som time ago. Think I let the big rubber grommet at the wall under the ECU stay on the harness else the connector at the ECU end of the harness can not be taken out through the wall.
Some soap at the big grommet might help especially when refitting.

Thanks. How did you push the big grommet out? From the engine side or ECU side? |

This is the engine side of the grommet, the lip is a good bit shorter than the ECU side. |

Good to know. So it might be easier to first push it in to the ECU side and than pull it out to the engine side together with the end connectir?

Haven't done mine but it seems like it would be easier to draw the harness out towards the ECU. |

It might be so, then you maybe can take the harness out with the connector still attached to the ECU.
If you take only the ECU out (without the connector) is there room in that area at all to work the grommet out towards the engine with a flat schrewdriver...I dont remember?

Thanks all! I got it out today by pulling the lip from the engine side following by pushing from the ECU side. Didn't even need to do the soap water trick! |
