I'm trying to sort out some of the seals and other pieces of my '64 convertible. Today I noticed on both sides there are springs attached to the convertible frame that aren't doing anything (not attached to anything else). From a little googling it looks like the business end of those springs is supposed to attach to a tensioner cable. Is that right? Does anyone have a good reference with pictures anywhere about how the cable and springs are supposed to be connected? I don't think my car ever had a cable when I bought it.

TIA.

You should review the Convertible top install videos in the How to section of the stickies. While the car is a later model it should give you a pretty good idea.

Yes, thanks gentlemen. I've spent most of the last 18 months in the 914 world (no pun intended), but now I'm turning back to the Ghia I picked up a couple of years ago. It needs a fair amount of attention. And I am still learning my way around the resources here. This will be very helpful, thanks again.

Hey Geoff! Good to "see" you too. BTW, that MPS you sent me rocks. It's airtight. Thanks again. Just need to snuff out that slight bucking I'm getting, but hopefully between Bowlsby's wiring harness and some other stuff I'll be good. Alright, 'enuff teener talk Very Happy

Always first adjust the TPS for bucking at 2500-3000rpms. Next look for vacuum leaks.......leaning out.
