Help buying my first baja bug

I am looking to buy a baja bug and use it for a fun car that I also learn to wrench on a bit. I do not have a lot of experience with cars but I a mechanically minded and love to learn new skills. I have found a baja bugs few in my area and bellow is the one I am currently most interested in. It is a 73 with a vw van rear end and a carmengia front end. What are some things I should look out for? I am going to have a mechanic check it out but is there anything I should tell him to specifically look for or look for for my self? I know to look for rust in the door seals and under the battery other than that im lost.
