Does anyone have the orig engine nr, body nr, current chassis nr, and the date from the generator stand on the current engine?
Info from the birth certificate?
It looks like it is from about April 47 ?
* It's the "most original 47" that *they* knew???

After reading that, I couldn't help but research the restoration & history on this car. The car isn't even sitting on it's original pan. Not the original motor? How is this '47 the most original known? |
|
This car was featured in Hot VWs back about 1984, and as I remember, the builder started with just a body shell and front hood he bought for $75. It was a remarkable restoration for what it started out as, and this car was well known in the Pacific Northwest, but has obvious detail issues, being built back when pre '49 information was still sketchy. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Not a whine, but I wanted to open up the following fine vehicle to discussion

Expensive? Yes. Insanely early split convertible with matching engine? Yes. As an owner of a split convertible I can honestly say this is a game you need to shell out the big bucks if you want to join in.
I am interested in the feedback of other enthusiasts.
