Everyone, meet Rusty. A type 3 named for its color and not the decomposition of metal.
I'll fill you in on his story tomorrow. I will let the pictures speak for now. I resized the images for faster loading.

Looks good from what I see. When you mentioned it being a 66, I was just wondering if it was my old one. It;s not, as that car was dark blue. Looking at the engine and underneath pics, it looks very complete, and clean. Nice score. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Very cool!
As a precaution, please move the fuel filter forward of the engine bay. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Yeah, but that fuel filter is handy to have, for filling the carb bowls when the mechanical fuel pump vapor locks. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Carpet on the floor, install the seat covers that came with the car and drive. I will keep it up to date and improve it here and there, but this one is a driver. 70 mph is a breeze.
I am excited about the seat covers. They are a nice tan. I have included some pictures. Once those and the floor carpet are in, this thing is going to be sweet. There is something about a patina exterior with a put together interior that really makes me smile.

Yup, they do work nice.
Got to re-looking at the pic and now I see why Brian mentioned the fuel filter, as it's got 2 right there. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

You are correct. PO took the tank out to make sure it was nice and clean, but he didn't put sealer in it. it gets a little rust in it. He put two filters to make sure and catch all of it. I'm trying to run the car dry this week so that I can take the tank out, seal it and get rid of this filters by putting a hard metal one under the fender. _________________ My Old 64 Field Find

My feelings exactly! In fact, that is exactly my plan. I just need to get exactly those seat covers!
The redundant filtration is funny, though. Anything that got by the first filter would likely get by the second one too. _________________ Everything known to man has been written.

Here are a couple of pics with the hub caps n I think in going to find a set of pristine caps for a little contrast. These get lost in all the sameness of color.
Also, what does everyone use for license plate mounting? Texas played have holes on top and bottom. That doesn't work with the "middle" stock mounting brackets. Any suggestions? _________________ My Old 64 Field Find

Drill new holes in the plate. That's what I used to do with my Bug. _________________ 71 Elm Green FI A/T Squareback |

Thank you Nate. Much appreciated.
I wanted to let all of you guys know, so that you didn't lose sleep, that the fuel filter has been replaced with a metal one.
Other than that, I am just looking for a set of hub caps if anyone has some. It pains me because I threw away 8 good ones because of the move. _________________ My Old 64 Field Find

Wow, nice! Your progress is making me green w/ envy!
These seat covers you have,
I went to that website, and don't see where they offer VW stuff. Did you get these recently? Custom order?
Are those red plastic shades above your door glass? I haven't seen those in ages! (I've got chrome ones) Where'd they come from?
And tell us about your "non-stock" headliner. I have my reasons,,,,,
Keep up the good work, and updates. I need as much inspiration as I can get. _________________ Everything known to man has been written.
