This has to be the most nonsense filled, misleading ad ever posted. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1794872

"Rare 1964 Deluxe "turkis" Safari Bus

RARE 1964 US SPEC.
FACTORY SUPER DELUXE "TURKIS" VW ORIGINAL SAFARI BUS
WITH ROOF RACK AND LADDER"

Honestly, I can't tell what he means by that text as it is completely meaningless the way it is written. There are certain "truths," however:

The bus is a 1964
It's a US spec bus
It was built in a factory
It is a VW
It is a bus
It may be rare because no one else has hacked a Kombi in exactly the same way.

What it is not is a Deluxe--the rear windows were hacked in and there are no Deluxe features on the bus at all. There is little, if anything, about it that is original. And, just what is a "Safari Bus?" A term he coined to give this hack a category in which to fit.

The bus may be a decent build, so why not just be open and honest and advertise it as such. Drop the words "Deluxe," "factory," and "original" from the ad, and put the information in coherent sentences.

This thing is having a serious identity crisis. 67 body, bullet fronts, icebox out of a 65 plus that paint scheme. Someone needs to fix that poptop canvas as well.

He also has a "rare deluxe" bay window camper.

I think for the most part is his ad wording is the result of being lost in translation- this is an ESL ad if ever there was one. He uses "deluxe" as an adjective rather than claim it is a 'deluxe microbus.' His ads appear to try to use accent and emphasis to appeal to but fails. I hope he's mostly innocent but it is indeed a horrible way to try to sell those buses here.

He lost me at wide whites on a camper- regardless. Buses are one of those things that can never be an all in one package. If you want: a late bus; early paint scheme; a camper and a cruiser- you need at least 3 buses.

Repaint the poptop, bumpers, steering wheel, put correct blinkers back in, lose the whitewalls, get the right front bumper, put in curtains/hardware and remove paint from louvered windows and I'd drive it. No the paints not right but it looks good and like a quality job, same with the upholstery.

Agreed. The paint scheme would still piss some people off but at least it would draw a wider buying audience.

I think he means "rare" as in "not well done"

It has come up before in the past. He's had it advertised off and on for many years.

If we dont like the color it's our problem? No, I think it's his problem. I can't imagine a very large group of potential buyers for that color and price.

This bus was sold out of Washington about 4 years ago.

I am not sure why a previous owner ( I know his uncle) went with SWR/CB. Og color was Dove Blue for the 61 kombi.

The paint was nice. "show quality". It had a new wiring harness. The rust had been fixed.
I did the interior panels on this bus shortly before it was sold to someone in Sacramento. wood in the back, grey in the front. I like the wood rear seat kick panel.
I saw the bus up for sale again last year, so I think this is the second owner since Jack had it.

When Jack sold it, it had white wheels, no deluxe trim, a bay rear seat, no middle seat, white front bumper, no rear bumper, and the motor was all dressed properly with powder coated og German tin.
It looks like the current owner got the seats re-upholstered.

The non- purists love this bus because it is shiny and clean inside and out.
The ad could use more pics.

The bus is NOT all original.
