I finally got this thing running, so I'm starting my build thread. If you like the video, share it (facebook, twitter, etc), that helps me a ton!

I'll be posting lots of pics and info in this thread as well as the car gets built. I'm planning a body off restoration late in the summer, and there are a lot of other things that will be done before then as well.

Looks like you're having a blast already.

Just don't Snorklestang it.

By the way, open up that trunk and post a picture. I've always wondered if you could fit a ton of stuff in those kit-car front ends.

I had no idea what Snorklestang is, so I just googled it. Yikes. Shocked

I actually really like how the car looks right now, there won't be a ton of visual changes to it other than paint and some other minor things. Here's some schemes I've been toying around with:

There isn't a ton of room in the trunk actually, you'd think there would be but it's about the same.

Look for the continental kit for the rear. Just do it right for sure.

Added some baffled exhaust tips from EMPI to quiet it down while I assemble my build plan.

The red and black combination looks good. But why not check out some custom Fords from the thirties and see what they came up with.

I recently went to the Kool April Nights car show here in Redding, CA. There were close to two thousand classic cars. I saw a great many Fords from the thirties. Some where painted two-tone, some not. The metallic paints were my personal favorites.

I'm definitely going to chop it, here's a photoshop of what I'm going to be doing visually with the car. I'm still trying to figure out how to upgrade the suspension without spending $5K, if anyone has any advice let me know!

Cool project.
I vote for the brown insert as it reminds me of the old Woodie look as well.

Got some more videos shot, one of them is replacing the steering wheel with a different OEM wheel out of a mitsubishi. I'll have more pics later, here's a teaser gif for now. Very Happy

I'm going for more of a hot rod look, I do love those whitewalls though. I think I'll whitewall my current tires for the time being. Very Happy

How do you find having speakers in the foot wells, I'm a big guy 6'4 280lbs and I've always felt they would be in the way.

They're not too bad, I definitely notice them though and I'm 6'1" 210. I don't think they'll stay there though once I get around to doing my build, I'll probably relocate or modify them to give myself a bit more room.

I just finished a new video, installing a custom steering wheel in my 1972 Standard Beetle. If you like it, share it! (facebook, twitter, etc) Thanks! Very Happy

I got a call from Bandimere yesterday saying Bugford took runner up in show class. I got a spiffy trophy! Funny thing is, I didn't even wash it. The windows were dirty. There's surface rust and cracked paint everywhere. Not exactly "Show Class" but I'll take it!

The only logical explanation is that a bunch of people who actually WANTED to win show class picked the ugliest bug there and voted for it. Jokes on them! Laughing

My car is now an award winning bug! Laughing

Nice going Very Happy I liked the steering wheel video, good job on that. I was mulling over going to a more retro look on mine, but may save that for after the car is done. It can be a "later" project.

I replaced all my ball joints and tie rod ends last week and installed drop spindles as well.

Picked up some front seats from the junkyard today. They're from a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon. If the rear bench seat fits I might go back and grab that too.

Picked up the donor car for the engine this weekend. 1993 Subaru Legacy Turbo. I'm going to use it as a commuter car this winter and tear the engine out in the spring. Very Happy EJ22T
