Only things I saw was Rich Cantu toting around his American Racing mag wheel (not 4-sale) and Chad Magee selling a set of Fumigali's ($3500) But nothing else cool or rare. Anyone else see anything? _________________ 1947 Type 11a

| Ahhh yeah.......the wheel just arrived back in the U.S.A the night before BUG IN 32......and it was personally delivered to me..... due to the rarity I really did not want to leave it in my bus.......my wheel was used to reproduce them in high quality dot/jwl aprroved form in the U.K......every thing on the reproduction looks great!!!.............I do have an extra set of originals that are for sale right now...... I was able to buy a complete set on the Samba....(not my old set of four that I had 10 years ago).......so currently I have a set for sale........I was thinking of letting them go for $4k to get some of my money that I have spent on locating these rare wheels.........other that that I found an N.O.S Empi Sprint Star and a set of DDS 48 IDA intake manifolds for my DYNOSOAR Super Flow Heads. I had a great time and looking forward to having my car at the next BUG IN!!! |

A pretty rare wheel that was sold through JC Whitney for around $10 a piece (I believe?) back in the day. Good luck finding someone who will part with them now. All the wheel collectors are rabid over them. I was with a buddy selling parts at a show in Atlanta last summer and he had brought one of his along. We had it sitting out in front of the stand- and although there were a few curious glances wondering what it was, no one even asked about it!!! A few hundred people and not a damn one even asked...
Anyone got a pic to pop up? I still haven't figured out how to post images yet- |

Fumagali (a dusty one at that...)
my wheel collection
oh, $3500 for a set of fumagali's is just way too much. _________________ Sounding like a broken record as to why You should be measuring protein during harvest in order to better your agronomic practices. |

I actually finally saw an original cap today... but I didnt get to keep it
It's basically a round flat cylinder that pops into the center hole. I think the wheel would look better with out it. _________________ Sounding like a broken record as to why You should be measuring protein during harvest in order to better your agronomic practices. |

So, Java is reproing this wheel huh?
Back in 96, a guy had a set of these 4-sale at Pomona for $200/set. I was going to buy them, but changed my mind. I figured since they were so cheap, they may just be junk. As soon as I walked away, Dave Orozco bought them. Next thing I knew, Dave was selling them for $2000. Come to find out later that they were made by American Racing and were Magnesium. Damn it.... _________________ 1947 Type 11a

Here's a shot of Chad Magee's Panel on Fumagali's. Chad was also the person at the Bug-In that had the set of Fumagali's 4-sale

What would be a good solid price to pick up a set for? And do you have any 4-sale? _________________ 1947 Type 11a

Wow $3,500.00 for Fumagali wheels ........there is a 62 Karmann Ghia here in Fresno with a full set and they even have the right center caps........I can get the whole car for $1,500.00........any one want a set of those steel wheels??? Yes that is the wheel Glenn......they are a really good looking reproduction with a slight difference of course just in case there is any hiding specs from the Big Company who originally produced them. |

I really do not like those fumagali wheels.....I have had just about all of them but have always had my eyes on the Wide Five American Racing Equipment wheels as those were the best looking ever made .....if you look at the Keith Sume "California Look" book on page 35 there is a goldish colored Ragtop that I built my old 58 ragtop to look like.....clean and simple!!! if you search some of my photos in the gallery you can see my blue rag top, now I would like to buy it back at the time Keiths book hit the market I owned a set of four with two bar spinners.....I should have never let them out of my grip, now almost ten years later and much scrounging I happen to be lucky to own 8 wheels. I will see if I can get some photos for you on those Fumagalis....talk soon ! |
