what kind of chasis protective paint question.

hi everyone my 55 oval pan is nearly ready from restoration and was thinking about how was the chassis painted from the factory.

what kind of sound proofing did it have and any opinions about under seal on the chassis?
and if you use under seal would you apply it from the inner and outer part of the pans ?

I am a fan of POR15, even more so then powder coat for the pan/chassis. POR15 is great if used/prepped properly. For best results sand/media blast the surface and then paint. You can use their Marine Clean and Metal Ready products as well. www.por15.com

For my 54, I then sprayed Lizard Skin (ceramic version) on the interior of the pans and body (rear package tray) for sound/heat insulation.

I do not like using undercoating products...especially on the bottom/exterior. I believe undercoating provides areas for water to get trapped and cause rust.
