Anybody out there familiar with how to wire this type switch for semaphores? The wiring diagram that came with it (auf Deutsch) was intended for blinkers, as each diagram shows the blinker relay in the mix. I know someone is going to ask to see the diagram, but I don't have a scanner to get it on my computer. |

Are you trying to wire it for use on semaphores? If so, then you'll only need 3 wires. Which switch do you have? There were several different styles. Is the Red tip pointed or domed? |

Im trying to figure out the same thing. In that first picture( I think)
K is power to the red light
KO is ground
54BL is power from the BGDO
HR right semaphore
HL left semaphore
The key is what the BGDO is.
I have never seen a relay with those terminal numbers 54L,KP,15X _________________ 64 Bug |

the BGDO is the flasher relay, 54 is brake light circuit # so the relay is for a snowflake taillight type system with blinking brake lights, the rear half is for trailer connection, Anhanger, 15 is ignition and KP is the dashboard indicator light, my question is why would anyone want to use one of these things, have you test fitted it to the column yet? I have a few of these cheesy things and most appear to have a much longer than stock stalk on it which is going to hit the window winder handle when you try to roll up the window ...
use lee70airbug's top diagram and you will have to run an additional 15 ignition wire into the switch to light the switch stalk when the semiphores "UP" indicator grounds out the other end of the circuit _________________ There is an idea of a Billmetric; some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me: only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply am not there... |

Will a typical 3 post flasher relay work? _________________ 64 Bug |

Well I set it down and forgot about it till recently. I moved, unpacked my VW stuff and found it again! Well since I still could not figure it out, I had my dad look at it (Who teaches basic physics about electronics.) He figured it out in less than 5 minutes. To get the red light working, the + on the light must be to power, the ground must be connected to the two blue wires that go to speedometer blinker indicator lamp connection. When the ground is broken, the lamp goes off, when it is solid the lamp is on.
No flasher involved! _________________ 64 Bug |
