|
|
Thought I would put up a few photos of my 66' Kombi that I bought in Colorado last year while working my 3rd winter season in Breckenridge.
When the winter came to a close in April last year it was time to pack 6 months worth of belongings including 2 snowboard bags, a new rear bumper and myself and my girlfriend into the Van and head off to LA where we had arranged shipping home to the UK.
We covered about 2000 miles over 4 weeks, stopping off at the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas, driving through snow and 10000ft high mountain passes into the desert and 100C temperatures, before spending a couple of weeks by the ocean in California.
A fantastic trip that we will never forget and done in the best ever roadtrip vehicle!

The last of the snow in Colorado
A great vehicle for carrying snowboards!
All packed up and ready to go home.
Cooling off in the Desert.
A local funrun we came across on the Route 66 in Arizona.
The Ocean at last.
There are some great campgrounds in California overlooking the Ocean.
Cleaning off 2000 miles of dirt before heading to the shipping company in LA.
One more look at the ocean...complete with Vegas dice! |

LOL...yeah that would be pretty hot, OK 100°F.
I was an instructor at Breck for the 02/03 season and I worked on the Quiksilver Lift Tickets for the 03/04 season. Were you in Breck then 70 140? |

Very nice!
Any chance you know how the wood is attached to the roof inside? That looks real cool! |

Hey I remember you passing through Flagstaff.
Glad to see a nice chapter of traveling your bus already laid down. More to come I am sure.
There's nothing in the world like a bus in motion. Congrats. |

hey--thats my old van! I was glad to stumble across this post by accident--well--a friend did actually. I was wondering what had become of ol van-essa. hope she is treating you well steve and sarah. I would still like to see some pics of surfing in england. so when ya get some time send some my way. I still miss that van by the way, and Ironically I was out one night with a fellow VW friend, when the girl i bought it from walked in. ironically this VW friend sold it to her. so I have a long history of her now.
anyway, glad to see hger again
mike
ps, the wood ceiling was simply screwed into the cross members. typical tongue and groove deco pine from home creepo. was a real PITA to install but turned out real nice I think. I never did finish the edge though--have you steve? |
