2004 Forester. 135K and counting! This vehicle is great, parts are relatively cheap and I can still work on it. Sunroof, leather, AC, power everything, AWD, 30mpg on the highway...etc. I can sleep in the back with the seats folded down. Hands down, awesome car. Wouldn't hesitate to get another as a DD. _________________ 77 Westy - Cape Cod Sage

1994 Honda del Sol
106HP
2060 LBS
40+ MPG
Fun car to drive! Thinking about doing a Mini-Me swap to a VTEC. Then it will be similar weight but around 160hp.
It is always a head turner
Now I need a bus... |

Jason, nice pic! What's that guy pointing you towards the back door? Is it like get outs here because 2180's aint supposed to make power? It is so cool this motor has more torque than hp, for drivability.

I had a 93 Del sol SI and logged over 300k miles on original engine and trans, try that with a VW. It was also capable of 125 MPH by holding it in 3rd gear until over 100 miles per hour then hitting OD. You need to read Aaron Bonk's book on performance upgrades, its possible to take a much larger engine out of six cylinder Honda or Integra. A lot of this stuff is direct bolt in and interchange is easy. It's possible to build over 300 hp. JDM engines are still available cheaper than you can build. Good luck |

2000 Jetta that I drive to Honda of America Mfg. to assemble boring cars all night long
Gotta love that Mexican made German engineering!
DoesAnybody know what the HP is on a 2.0 Jetta?? Does anyone really care?? |
Thought I might post an update.
I sold the Jetta in 2012 with 310k nearly trouble free miles.
Replaced it with a (then new) 2012 GTI "Autobahn" It now has about 63k miles and has been an absolute blast as a daily driver.
Here is a pic the day the GTI met the Ghia.

2008 or 7? Jetta GLI that has had APR stage 1 flash. Very nice and so much more fun to drive "chipped". 38,000 miles. Dont drive much take public transportation. Also a 2012? jeep compass. What a piece of crap. Told myself i would never buy an American car bit i did. Big mistake.
Now I'm waiting for the new Tiguan to come out so i can replace the POS jeep. |

91 Chevy Scottsdale with a 350 TBI and a 4L60 4wd, Gets the same mileage on the highway loaded with swap meet parts as my old 70 bus with a Riviera top and partial Westy interior. 17 MPG.
But that truck rarely gets 2K miles a year. I mostly ride bike, or my Peugeot SP102 moped, or I walk. The truck is for nasty winter weather, or hauling big stuff.
Wife drives an 08 Toyota Matrix. Great little go-kart. Ugly, but fun to drive and gets low 30's MPG out on the highway. Pretty good in the snow with decent tires, too. Change the oil and keep the tires aired up and it demands nothing else. I did do front brakes recently. Complete rotor, caliper, and pad kit was under $200 and took an hour.
Daughter is driving a 95 Subaru Legacy Wagon. Perfect high school and college car. Not the best MPG ( 25-ish highway) but great winter traction, and dead simple to drive and maintain. This one will be in my shop soon for a timing belt/water pump/oil pump/valve cover gasket job. She'll be riding bike to work for a little while. _________________ nothing |

I'm retired so I don't have a daily driver but if I did, it would be our 2017 Dodge Caravan. Our '78 bay window would be my delay driver. |
