I recently purchased a side view mirror for my early Ghia from west coast metrics. I installed it on the driver side in the stock location. However, the mirror will not swivel up enough to see out of it.

Is this because the WCM one is garbage? Would a repro one from KPRG work?

pretty sure they are all the same. I would call WCM, tell them the situation and ask if you can "man handle" it a little before sending back for replacement. Sometimes they get stuck and need persuasion. Just get permission first.

I actually had the same issue with mine from KGPR. I ended up reaming the front mounting hole a bit so that I could swivel it. It is just on the edge of being comfortable for me.

Same problem with one I bought from KGPR. I only paid $20 for it as it was not listed on the website. The sales person told me is was a second not that I would not be able to see out of it! I bought an NOS one out of the classifieds and it fixed that problem.

Although the mirror I got from WCM worked and adjusted well I recently cobbled this together.

It is an original ghia swan neck base I picked up at a swap meet. I used an Albert mirror I had in my parts stash to add to the og base. There is a small spring that provides the tension so it doesnt wave in the wind yet still movable with hand pressure. Im guessing your issue is this spring is binding. I need mine just a little tighter than it is now. Still working on it...but im close. Smile

I guess I can look for a NOS one if I can find it - how crappy you can't swivel up the mirror enough to see out of though?

I mean really - the damn thing isn't even functional.

It does suck, Just contact them and send it back, get another. Ask them to open the box and confirm it operates before shipping. I drove over to WCM and picked up all my rubber and bits so i got to test the mirror before leaving. Was good that i did, he gave me a door mirror for a 68, not the one I ordered.
