So if I sell anyone think I can get 8 to 10 gran, it has a new 1915 motor single carb built with forged scat parts, New rebuilt trans, front disk breaks, its all there, but no top, and the body is in pretty good shape and pretty solid. I spent around 3500 on the motor 900 on the trans 1000 on other stuff, and 2700 for the car, so I've got around 8 in it.

You rarely Ever get out what you put into a car.. Unless it's super rare/special, or you get the "right" buyer that just connects with Your car..

Best way to find out is place he ad!!

The market will let you know the value... You decide to take that or not.

Looking at what's out there for sale right now, I'd bet you'd be hard pressed to get even close to $5k for it....(from what I've seen in pics)...
Better hang onto it and enjoy it!!!!

I don't really want to sell really. So, but at this point I'm very frustrated. I had a new motor built, by a proven buggy engine builder from work, had block wk done, used all new parts, New heads, scat 1915 kit new 38 carbon from car craft, all parts choose and set up buy builder. I put the carb n tin on, put in the thing and no start, so frustrating, I'm no mechanic so the thing won't start Arrrrrggga , I just don't no what to say. It's cranking, I'm dam sure I got the plugs in right, distributor in with rotor pointing #1 at tdc , it's getting gas manual fuel pump, 110 to120 compression on all cyl. Someone pull me off the cliff. What's next, please

Might want to take a different approach and figure out what it isn't

1) Do you have fuel to the carb?
2) Do you have spark to the plugs?

If you've proven these, then I'd lean towards timing.. I have my dizzy gear in 180* out, and it wasn't obvious... I don't recall where the rotor points at TDC, but it wasn't to #1.... Maybe #4(?)... Move your plug wires clockwise 1 position and see what ya get.

Dude. Don't sell it because it won't start. Everyone on the board would be happy to walk you through getting this motor going!double check the timing as mentioned and make sure that once the gas gets to the carb, it's actually going somewhere. Float??

Thanks for the replies, I switched the plugs around one spot, didn't work. From no 1 terminal plugs go in 1,4,3,2 on the distributor. I have John Muir how to keep your Volkswagen alive, step by step procedures for the complete idiot. And I feel like one. Crying or Very sad

She runs, yes. Put in New pertronix electronic flame thrower coil and ingnitor, New plugs and it started, I have royal purple break in oil, but I have a question on how long and at what RPM should I break it in for. All info comments welcome.

Hi Veg-Head,

There is a great tech article on breaking in a new engine here:
http://www.aircooled.net/vw-engine-break-in-procedure/

I won't claim to be an expert, but as long as you get up and running, do the break in procedure, then set the timing and the carbs.
